The Monastery of the Transfiguration

Monastery of the Transfiguration Church : As residents in the area, we could fairly say that it is a sacred place, solemn and private.

We prefer to go to the Monastery of the Transfiguration Church to hear mass because of its incomparable solemnity. We could personally feel the presence of our Savior, feel the silence of the place and can also even feel the calmness of our mind and spirit. No doubt, the monks choose this location as their permanent residence.

Since 1995, Me and my wife, started to go to this place to hear mass every Sunday. Aside from its solemnity, it is also because of its green scenery, a personal touch of nature and the coolness of its climate.

It offers us with a well maintained "bermuda" grass landscape with ornamental plants in the surroundings.

They also have a unique architecturally formed pyramid type structure with perfectly designed cut pine ceiling panels, with rock altar suspected to be from a molten lava from an undisclosed erupted volcano in the area and a drift wood podium stand in front of the altar.

Every 2nd Sunday of the month, a regular community breakfast and lunch or most commonly known as "BRUNCH with the MONKS", will be served with an affordable rate, since the mass starts at exactly 8:00 a.m. and ends at 9:15 a.m. This would be a great deal for family outdoor event. Some wanting to get married, prefer this place as their wedding venue. Personal appointment with the in-charge is recommended for proper arrangement of wedding entourage.

If we have some extra of our graces, we give it as our "offering", with sincerity and humility.

For Visitors, this is your location guide:

You can reach this place by taking a ride on a "multicab" at almost 8 kilometers from the Poblacion proper of Malaybalay City or at about 15 minutes ride from the Provincial Capitol Ground.

The pyramid type structure is a world renowned structure today because of the Facebook, and other social media where a picture taking, once you are in the place, is a must for a life time worth souvenir and of course one of unique experiences in our life.

The Black Rosary (History) -A Catholic Faith-

The Natural Landscape of Capitol Ground and the Catholic Faith

October – The Month of the Holy Rosary

Tradition holds that October has been celebrated as the month of the rosary since 1571, and the victory of the Catholic League (an alliance of Spain, Venice, the Papal States, Genoa, Savoy, and Malta) over the forces of the Ottoman Empire who were seeking to take over Italy in an effort to move into the heart of Europe. It was October 7, 1571 when the battle was fought and the Catholic League was able to overcome the Ottoman forces.

Prior to the ships sailing off towards battle, Pope Pius V prayed the rosary, asking for Our Lady’s intercession in victory, and every man on board carried a rosary. For this reason, as soon as the men returned from the battle, the good pope declared a feast day for Our Lady of Victory. A rosary procession was offered in St. Peter’s square after the victory and in time the whole month became associated with the rosary, rather than just one day. Pope Leo XIII officially established October as the Month of the Rosary in the 1884. That year, he published Superiore Anno, an encyclical which was focused on recitation of the holy rosary. In it, he called for the entire Church to dedicate the whole of the month to the rosary and pray it daily:

St. Johns School of Malaybalay City recited the Holy Rosary at the Capitol Ground
last October 18, 2010 in observance of October as month of the Rosary.

I was on my way home to fetch my little girl when I noticed that they were already in a rosary form in the Capitol Ground. Luckily, that time, I brought my canon digital camera to take some pictures also in (click here Freedom Park to see my shots on this site) Freedom Park and without hesitation, I dropped by and took some random shots from the Capitol Ground stage.
